SANTA ROSA, Calif. - January 29, 2002 - TrueTime, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRUE), a leading provider of precision time and frequency products, today introduced its WinSync software for keeping time accurately synchronized to a high precision time reference. Clocks on computers are notorious for drifting which can lead to serious network operation problems. The new WinSync network time client alleviates these problems by regularly updating the computer's clock to the correct time. The resulting accurate synchronization is essential for many mission critical network operations and applications. Accurate synchronization is particularly important for network log file accuracy to improve network fault diagnosis and forensics.

TrueTime's WinSync derives reliable time directly from a network time server, such as TrueTime's NTS-200. The NTS-200 in turn derives its time directly from the atomic clocks aboard the Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system. The high-bandwidth capability of the NTS-200 can support thousands of WinSync clients with no degradation in timing accuracy. This is essential as modern broadband networks grow larger and faster and the need for reliable time becomes critical and widespread.

"Network managers need a reliable, enterprise wide synchronization solution," stated Paul Skoog, TrueTime's product manager of IP network timing products. "Our out-of-the-box solution of the network time server and the network time client is an invaluable help to our customers. Both the server and the WinSync clients are easy to install. The highest compliment we get paid by our customers is that they installed the product, it works great, and they forget it's there."

Network operations require time-synchronized information to ensure optimal network performance. When network problems surface, the lack of time synchronization can become a key factor in the success or failure at troubleshooting and resolving the problem. For example, since network logs are a compilation of events from different hosts, it's essential that the time stamps be correct. A lack of precise synchronization creates considerable difficulty when attempting to establish the sequence of events and identifying root-cause problems. The combination of the network time server and distributed network time clients, like WinSync, solves this problem by keeping the clocks on a wide variety of network devices very closely synchronized.

The TrueTime WinSync network time client software is compatible with Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000 operating systems. The software is available now and is included at no charge with TrueTime's NTS-100i, NTS-150, NTS-200 and TimeVault network time servers. WinSync is also available for download at no charge from http://www.truetime.net/software-winsync.html.
